Reference Sires

Docs Cody Chex

“Cody” was the first stallion I owned and trained. I had seen a lot of his siblings perform in cowhorse events and we were interested in breeding to his sire. We went to Sid Tucker’s in Homedale, ID to see his sire Bueno Chex Too. Sid took us out to look at the stud and the colts. Cody was in a pasture of long yearlings and was a real standout even though he was small. We decided to buy him from Sid and breed some of our “Legacy” mares at home. He was very prolific and we have a lot of his daughters in our breeding program today that are crossing very well with our younger sires.

Chalk Tari

Owned by Casey & Kristin Shelman

Chalk Tari“Chalk” was born on a rocky hill at Crane, OR.  We sold him as a yearling. “Chalk” was born on a rocky hill at Crane, OR. We sold him as a yearling. Casey & Kristen Shelman bought him back in the fall of 2006. He is a half brother to 2 of the high selling geldings in our sales. His sire Royal Santari has produced many good rope and ranch horses that are low headed and short backed. His mother is a great mare. She always placed high in the herd work and roping. Every time she was shown someone would come and want to buy her. She past those same qualities on to her colts. His colts carry on those same family traits we like so well. You can see from his pedigree how close he is to some of the great foundations horses. We are proud to offer him and his offspring to the public. Standing to the public, private treaty.  Pedigree in PDFMore Photos.

Last Chex

Last ChexOwned by Dean, Cory & Casey Shelman

Last Chex, a palomino stallion, impressed us with his breeding and looks when
we bought him. We liked him even better when we rode him and used him on
the ranch. He can really travel, is kind, loaded with cow, very talented and trainable.
Now the colts have arrived we think he is outstanding. The colts are real
pretty headed, good boned, big hipped and great movers. They are real pretty
colored too. Last Chex’s sire “Mister Colonel Bar” was the 1989 PCCHA Open
Futurity Champion and the sire of proven performance horses.  Pedigree in PDF More Photos.

DW He Be A Playgun

Owned by Randy & Linda Bunch and Cory & Jaris Shelman

"Pistol" is making his mark on our program and we look forward for more good things to come.  He won the 3yr. old reining class here at our fair and will continue to be shown on into the bridle.

"Pistol" sired the high selling weanling at the VanNorman and Friends Production Sale in 2008, a fancy gray stud colt purchased for $3500, by Rolly Lyle as a ranch stallion prospect.  We wish Rolly luck in the cowhorse events with his horse in the future.

We are offering one broodmare in the sale in foal to "Pistol".  If you are looking for a quality broodmare with a "Pistol" in utero, don't miss "Lil Flossie Chex".  Continue to look for his influence in the VanNorman and Shelman Sales. Pedigree in PDF coming soon.  More Photos.
